Personal profile:

RACHAEL AMOAH is a 2021 master's student from SAA. She is the first African female aircraft valuation intern at Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) and the African representative of the "Generation Z in Shanghai" urban brand IP event. She served as a guest speaker at the "Forum on Promoting Urban Innovation and Development", participated in the ICASSE academic conference and gave a paper presentation, and won the "Recitation of Chinese Classics Competition", Received the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Spring 60S Sports Challenge Award.

Rachael came to China with a passion and curiosity for aviation six years ago, hoping to experience a new life in this unfamiliar country. She believes in the scientific and technological progress of this country, so she chose China as her destination. In 2017, her aviation dream led her to Nanjing, China, where she pursued a bachelor's degree in aviation engineering at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA). She chose aviation engineering as her major because she was deeply fascinated by the wonder of airplanes flying in the air with humans. In addition, she hopes to contribute to the female aviation industry, as female figures are not common in the African aviation industry.

During her studies at NUAA, she actively participated in academic, cultural, sports and other activities, and ultimately graduated as one of the top ten outstanding international students at NUAA in June 2021. Then he embarked on a graduate journey at SJTU in September 2021.

She maintains a passion for life and research, actively participates in various activities organized by the school, such as May Day running activities and World Smile Day photography, and she is also an excellent student of SJTU Global Training Camp. During the event, she learned more about Chinese culture and made many Chinese friends. At the same time, her diligence and hard work in scientific research and learning gave her the opportunity to serve as a reviewer in the Elsevier Engineering Community, and she reviewed the paper from April to August this year, which was recognized by the editor of Engineering Failure Analysis.

On September 18, 2023, she was honored to have the opportunity to intern at the Value Management Department of COMAC Sales and Marketing Center. Although the internship period is only one month, her supervisors have carefully prepared a comprehensive and structured internship plan for her, aimed at helping her achieve successful internship experience in China.

During the internship, she gained a deep understanding of the main functions of the Value Management Department. This department is mainly responsible for the research, analysis, implementation, and construction of fleet product pricing strategies and systems, and closely cooperates with China's three major trunk airlines C919, ARJ21, and CR929. She not only learned about operational model and business strategy of COMAC, but also learned many professional terms in the Chinese aviation industry. The experience of working with all the outstanding personnel at COMAC not only allowed her to gain valuable experience, but also made her fall in love with the corporate culture here. She sincerely hopes that COMAC can continue to grow and achieve greater success.

At present, she is in the final year of her master's degree and her research focus is on the influence of microphone array configuration on spatial interpolation in VRA beamforming. After submitting the initial draft of the paper, she is actively preparing a second research paper to put a perfect end to her research experience at SJTU.

During the time in Shanghai, Rachael and her friends have visited many beautiful places. Her favorite place is Zhujiajiao in Qingpu District, where there are houses with African architectural styles, and she feels the charm of beauty and harmony. As a member of the "the Belt and Road" initiative, she knows that we all live in a world, and what we need is harmony and love, because we are all one. Her love for this city makes her hope to stay in Shanghai the next year after graduation, and contribute her efforts to promoting friendship between China and Africa.
