Associate dean Xingqun ZHAN made a report at the symposium of the CSC in Xi’an

From Nov 30th to Dec 1st , 2020 , the training session about the selection of state scholarship overseas students 2021 was held by the Chinese Scholarship Council of the Ministry of Education(CSC) in Xi’an. Professor Xingqun ZHAN, associate dean of School of Aeronautics and Astronautics of SJTU, was invited to attend and gave a special report on the MAI-SJTU double degree project.

 

Vice secretary-general of CSC Qing LI presided over the opening ceremony, and president of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) Shuguo WANG and deputy director of the International Department of the Ministry of Education Yongji XU addressed. Then,  under the thesis of stable development, general-secretary of CSC Jianxue SHENG explained in detail about the progress made in 2020 and introduced work that waited for further improvement in 2021 in his address. According to the report, he stressed international study should be included in the evaluation standards of the Double First-Class initiative, China Discipline Ranking (CDR),and the Discipline Innovation and Wisdom Introduction Project for Institutions of Higher Learning (the “111” project, brought by the Ministry of Science and Technology). Issues like further support towards the partnership with Russian, Ukrainian and Belorussian universities, serving the Belt and Road initiative, and constructing the community of common destiny of all mankind were also emphasized in the report.

                                     

Prof.ZHAN mainly introduced the establishing background , school running model , current status, student cultivation and employment rate of the graduates of the MAI-SJTU, sharing experience of teaching Russian and Chinese students in the same class with the university representatives present.

 

Ever since the MAI-SJTU project established, the CSC has spared no effort to support students in SJTU to study in Russia.

  • 2017, approved The International Cooperative Innovative Talents Training Program. 11 joint masters degree students of grade 2017 were given funding.
  • 2019, approved the The Professionals Training Program in Russia. 28 joint masters degree students of grade 2018 were given funding.
  • 2020, approved the The Professionals Training Program in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. All 28 joint masters degree students of grade 2019 were given funding, including 6 majored in aeronautics.
  • 2020,approved The International Cooperative Innovative Talents Training Program with Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, including 30 undergraduate students, 40 joint-training masters and graduate students, along with 2 exchange scholars.
