OSU Engineering Delegation Visited SJTU-SAA

In the morning of October 31, 2017, Prof. Mike Benzakein, the Assistant Vice President of Aerospace and Aviation, College of Engineering, the Ohio State University (OSU Engineering), led a delegation to visit Shanghai Jiao Tong University, School of Aeronautics and Astronautics (SJTU-SAA).

 

Secretary of the CPC School Committee Mr. Jiaojie Cheng, on behalf of SJTU-SAA, extended warm welcome to all delegation members. He expressed his hope of promoting exchanges of faculty members and students between OSU Engineering and SJTU-SAA. Prof. Benzakein agreed and shared his will to encourage two-way exchanges between faculty members and students from the two sides.

 

Both sides shared the recent development focuses and briefed international strategy respectively. In consideration of the many strengths in common regarding research and academic development, the two sides would set up dual degree program. When it comes to 2018 SJTU Global Summer School, Prof. Benzakein pointed out OSU Engineering would not only encourage students from OSU to join in the program but also would get professors from OSU involved to give lectures in SJTU. Besides, OSU Engineering would like to launch more cooperative initiatives with SJTU-SAA, including collaborative constructing an Innovation Park.​

 

Associate Dean of SJTU-SAA, Prof. Xingqun Zhan also attended the meeting.

 

The Ohio State University is a public university in Columbus, Ohio. In 2016, U.S. News & World Report ranked Ohio State as tied for 52nd among all national universities. QS World University Rankings ranked the university 88th in the world. The University was founded in 1870; the Department of Mathematics and Engineering was one of seven original departments. Today, the College of Engineering offers 14 undergraduate and 15 graduate programs in 10 departments or centers. The College of Engineering graduate program is ranked 31st among all engineering schools nationally in the 2015 U.S. News & World Report listings. Aerospace and Aviation represents one of the largest growth areas in the College of Engineering with over 100 faculty members associated with related research and education across multiple departments.
