Qian Xuesen

Qian Xuesen, graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1934 and received a degree in mechanical engineering, was appointed as professor in Massachusetts Institute Technology and California Institute of Technology ( Caltech ).
He is an outstanding and committed member of the Communist Party of China, a great scientist widely recognized as the father of China’s aerospace industry, a senior fellow of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, and vice chairman of the sixth, seventh, eighth National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). Qian was one of the founders of modern mechanics in China. He advocated the theoretical and applied researches on systems engineering, made invaluable contributions to the launch and development of rocketry, missiles and space programs in China, and pioneered in many fields including aerodynamics, aviation engineering, jet propulsion, engineering cybernetics, physical mechanics.
