Dr. Li Chunxuan, also known as Chun-Hian Lee, an aerodynamicist, was born in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, November 9, 1939. He was graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Cheng Kong University, Taiwan, in 1963. After the graduation, he worked as a junior engineer responsible for heat exchanger design at Chung Hsing Electro-machinery Manufacturing Co., Taipei, Taiwan, before he left for the United States two years later to pursue his advanced studies. He received his Ph.D. degree at the Department of Engineering Science, State University of New York at Buffalo, in 1972. Then became a member of the research staff at the Fluids and Thermal Sciences Lab., SUNY at Buffalo, and subsequently the Firestone Flight Sciences Lab., California Institute of Technology. Since 1975 through 1980, he was employed by Lockheed Missles & Space Co. as a research scientist responsible for R&D as well as mission support.  He returned to China to join the faculty members of the Department of Flight Vehicle Design and Applied Mechanics, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, in 1980, and became the director of the Institute of Fluid Mechanics from 1985 through 1994. During the period of 1987 through 1997, he served as a member scientist in the Aerospace Sector, Commission of National High Technology Programme. Currently he is the director of National Laboratory for Computational Fluid Dynamics, and also an academician of China Academy of Engineering.
